Outreach and Intercessory Ministries
Beatrice leads the Outreach Department at CFH Chapel. She loves telling people about Jesus and praying for them, and she has seen God step into situations that looked hopeless. That is what keeps her going out to share the gospel.
How CFH Chapel Began
I gave my life to Christ in 1995, when I was in Form Two. I couldn’t keep it to myself. Almost immediately I started preaching Christ to my peers, in my local church and around the neighbourhoods.
I joined campus in 2000, and by 2003 the vision of an outreach ministry was already forming in my heart. I called it Missions Across the World (MAW). By 2011/12 things had become clearer. I had settled on the name Commission for Hope, drafted a constitution, developed several logos and worked out other plans. I held a series of meetings with friends who helped me refine it all, and at that time our plan was to begin mission work among the Waata. The team was later disbanded, and for financial and manpower reasons the mission never started.
Still, the vision wouldn’t let me go. In the following year it kept crystallising, until it became a plan to plant a sending church in Nairobi and from there reach out to the world. The plan included discipleship, community development, education and healthcare. But I’ll be honest: I had always feared pastoral responsibility. I did not want to be responsible for people’s eternal destinies. What if I misled them by misinterpreting the Bible? So I held back.
Then came 2018. Like a baby ready to be born, the vision simply couldn’t be held in any longer. With the blessing and release of Grace Chapel International, where I had fellowshipped and served for sixteen years, we began the church planting process in earnest. Early that year we had moved to Mugutha because of financial difficulties. It felt like a setback then, but looking back, God had already placed us where the work would begin.
On 2 December 2018 we launched the church in a public field, with about sixty people in attendance. The following Sunday it was just us: Purity, Reuel, Kendi and me. That was a humbling morning. But God was at work. Chris, whose coming to us was itself a miracle, became our first evangelist.
From January to July we met in our house and compound, about nine of us. By July we had leased a plot and put up a structure with no windows, no doors and an earthen floor. We kept meeting there anyway. By the end of the year the doors and windows were in, just in time for our New Year’s vigil.
Registration was another hurdle altogether. From 2019 to 2022 there was a moratorium, so very little could be done. When it was lifted in 2022, the conditions were so stringent and the delays so long that it took almost four more years to complete the process. That was one of the hardest seasons I have walked through, and many times I wondered how God was going to carry us through it. But by the time we celebrated our seventh anniversary, we had our registration certificate in hand, and God had also enabled us to renovate our building.
When I look back today, I can say that although the responsibilities have often beaten me down, I have never lost heart. One day I said to myself, “This church planting will kill me. I will not get out of this alive.” Then God gave me a promise of peace, as long as I kept my eyes fixed on him.
— Pastor Livingstone Mung’athia

Lives changed through Mizizi
“My faith was dead, and I didn’t know how it could ever come alive again. I discovered that we often blame God for things He had nothing to do with. I also discovered that I didn’t need to have everything in order before beginning discipleship and my Christian journey.”
“I’m no longer vulnerable to false teaching, because I know the Bible is always my reference and stands above any teaching. And I know it is by God’s grace that I have been saved.”
Next class starts: Sunday, November 1, 2026. Spaces are limited.
